Where Can Your Sauna Go?
Wondering whether your new sauna needs to go indoors, or if it can live outside? Here's what to know before you decide where to put it.
Indoors Is the Easy Option
All three of our sauna models — GlowZen, RadiantZen, and CedarZen — are built for indoor installation, and almost any indoor floor works: carpet, floorboards, timber, tile, vinyl, laminate, or concrete are all fine. Infrared saunas are dry saunas, so there's no steam and no moisture collecting underneath the unit — no waterproofing, drainage, or platform needed indoors. What matters most is that the floor is level and stable across the whole footprint. The walls and glass panels lock together and need to sit square, so an uneven base is the most common cause of a door not closing properly later.
Installing Outdoors
If you don't have the indoor space, we're comfortable with your sauna being installed outside, as long as it's in a well-protected area that isn't directly exposed to UV or rain.
Keeping It Protected Outdoors
Two things help protect an outdoor install. If there's any chance water could pool underneath the cabin, raise it on a platform — this avoids stagnant water and mould building up underneath. For our 2-person models (RadiantZen Premium, RadiantZen Standard, GlowZen) we also sell a $150 protective cover that guards the exterior timber against UV, rain, and dust. Not yet available for CedarZen.
A Note on Warranty
Outdoor installation in a genuinely protected spot is fully covered — placement alone doesn't void your warranty. The two things that can affect a claim are direct UV exposure and direct rain or leaking onto the sauna, and these are assessed case-by-case. If you're weighing up a particular outdoor location and aren't sure it's protected enough, get in touch before you install and we're happy to talk it through with you.
