Troubleshooting Your Ice Bath
Most ice bath questions have a quick fix. Here are the ones we hear most often. If you're still stuck, call us on 0414 596 118, email info@chakrawellness.com.au, or ask our chatbot for quick answers.
The Water Isn't Reaching the Set Temperature
Check the water flow shown on the chiller's display first. Low flow is the most common reason the water won't cool or heat properly, so if the flow reading is low, follow the steps in the next section. Once the flow is normal, check the insulated cover is on and fitted properly, and allow enough time. A big temperature change can take a few hours from cold, while topping back up after a plunge is usually around 25 minutes or less. If it still won't reach or hold the set temperature, contact us.
Low Water Flow
Nearly every time, the 20 micron filter needs replacing. The mesh pre-filter may also need cleaning. Normal flow is 13 to 16 L/min.
Replace the 20 micron filter. It should be washed every 2 weeks and replaced about once a month. Replacement filters are available from us, so just get in touch.
Clean the mesh pre-filter. Wash it every 5 plunges. Unscrew the base of the external pre-filter (there is no need to detach the whole connection), take care not to lose the rubber seal inside, and wash the mesh until it is free of slime and debris.
Check the water level is above the inlet, all valves are open, the hoses aren't kinked, and there is no trapped air or debris in the hoses or fittings.
You can find more on looking after your filters in our tub and chiller care guide and on how the system works in our water filtration system.
The Chiller Won't Turn On
Check the power point first. The chiller has a built-in safety switch (RCD). If it has tripped, simply push it back to the ON position. If it trips again straight away, please don't keep resetting it. Check the plug matches the voltage marked on the unit (220V or 110V, never mixed), and if it still trips, contact us.
The orange emergency shutdown button beside the filter, on the right side of the unit, cuts all high-voltage power immediately if you ever need it.
The Chiller Is Overheating or Won't Cool
This is almost always restricted airflow. Keep at least 100cm of clear space on all sides, don't block the condenser fins, and don't run it in an enclosed space or in extreme heat (above 45C). The chiller should also sit within 2 metres of the tub.
Connecting to Wi-Fi (Gizwits Smart App)
The chiller needs a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection, not 5GHz, and a strong signal at the chiller. A weak signal is the most common reason it won't connect or keeps dropping out. Many home routers broadcast both bands under one name, so make sure your phone is on the 2.4GHz network while you pair. If the signal is weak where the chiller sits, move your router closer or add a Wi-Fi extender.
Press the Wi-Fi button on the chiller.
Open the Gizwits Smart app and tap "Add device".
Find your chiller in the list and select it. That's it. These are the same steps as pairing a sauna once the device is discoverable.
Cloudy or Smelly Water
This is usually maintenance rather than a fault. Each week, brush the sides and base of the tub and skim off any floating debris. Wash the mesh pre-filter every 5 plunges and the 20 micron filter every 2 weeks, and change the water every 3 to 4 weeks. Our AquaSpa chlorine-free range (Sanitiser, Kleer Clarifier and Spa Shock) keeps the water clear, with dosing worked out per 1,000 litres each week. The full steps and dosing are in the tub and chiller care guide. Chlorine and salt are fine, but please avoid bromine, which damages the pump and heat exchanger and isn't covered by the warranty.
Water Leaks
A little water at the back or underneath the chiller is normal condensation from a powerful cooling unit. If water is leaking from a fitting, check the hose connections and elbow valves are seated properly, then remove the fitting and reseal it with pipe sealant tape. If it is still leaking after that, contact us.
Unusual Noise
Normal operating noise is about 50dB, similar to a quiet conversation or a household fridge. If it sounds like scraping, rattling or a loose part, that isn't normal, so please contact us.
The Chiller Shows a Fault Icon
The touch panel shows a general fault icon when something is wrong. There are no numbered error codes, so work through the sections above based on what you're seeing. If it keeps happening, send us a photo or short video of the panel.
Cold Nights
If freezing conditions are expected, drain the water or add antifreeze. Freeze damage isn't covered by the warranty.
Smoke, a Burning Smell or Visible Damage
Turn it off, unplug it, don't use it again, and contact us straight away.
